Hi
I've read that dwarf gouramis can be agressive with each other.
I just wondered if this also applied to a dwarf gourami, a flame-red dwarf gourami and a neon blue drawf gourami?
I assume yes, but I thought I'd check.

I love my dwarf gourami and although my tank is big enough for another (240L), he's a bit shy and i think he'd get bullied, plus I think he likes having use of the whole tank.
Just wondered if it's any different if they're different colours.

Also - does anyone know of an attractive centrepiece fish that can be kept singly or in 2/3 or so. It must be ok with my dwarf gourami and also be fine with neon tetras and honey gourami.
I love the look of angelfish (but i know they'd eat the tetra eventually).

Thanks

Hiya. Have you tried Badman's tropical fish compatability chart? It's great :good: Just google Badman's tropical fish,

i had 3 dwarf gouramis, 1 was blue and 2 were orange/blue striped (sorry dont know proper names) and the 2 orange just chased each other round until they both went black with stress...... so i took 1 out, the one that seemed to be the bigger bully. the remaining 1 started chasing the blue 1 so i took the blue 1 out as i prefered the look of the orange/blue and now just have 1 orange/blue...... so in my experience they do not get on, but i know others that have 2/3 with no probs!!!! i think it depends on the fishes personality

I've had nothing but trouble with dwarf gouramis being agressive with one another.

However the flame-red dwarf that you mentioned is actually more likely to be the red colour morph of the Honey Gourami.
Honey gouramis are altogether more peaceful and so a group of 2/3 of those may do well.

I'm just not sure how your current dwarf would react. In 240l you'd hope he'd accept other gouramis, but you never know.

Actually no, I already have a few red honey gouramis and my dwarf gourami is totally uninterested in them. I have now abandoned the idea of adding another dwarf though as i'd be very angry with myself if he got stressed with a new tankmate.

I have a powder blue, a flame, and an orange dwarf gourami in my 46 gallon and they get on quite well. I added a couple of angels and they all get on well too. AND with a male betta.
