Has anyone here successfully kept Angelfish with neon tetras, without the Neons becoming a tasty snack for the angels?

I currently have 3 angels in with around 30 neons (of different colur morphs)
they are no losses of neons due to angels snacking.
I put this down to many plants, blackwater and all fish being well fed.

I haven't been able to. In fact I can't keep any dither fish in my tank for any length of time, so I stopped trying. Any time I did, they started disappearing one by one. Angels have deceptively small mouths.

I believe it can be done if done like The-Wolf has done, or if the angels are juvies and can't quite fit that tasty tetra in his/her mouth yet.

i think iv heard that neons are accual the angle fishes natural diet in teh wild, seems odd that they wouldn't attack them -_-

yes they are the natural diet but angels might not eat them because their instincts have been bred out.

Can those who successfully mix these fish please give us an idea as to the size of their angels (be honest, neons lives depend on it!).

The fact is, Angels are predetor, neons prey. Make a judgement call on this one.

Well,my angels are pretty much full grown now and I must say they are anything but good tank mates to any tetra.I will explain........At first when they were little they were introduced to neons, and there were no problems what so ever.Time passed and they started to show their territorial instincts, pairing up ect.One weekend I was away and didn't have anyone to feed them, so upon my return I found three neons missing,I thought not much of it,but later I saw a predator behavior on all of them. They used to chase all neons and even though I never got to see them kill or eat any of them,I knew my angels were the reason for the neons disappearance.
Take as you want, but angels could be very effective catching those neons, especially when there is more than one, they will team up and the poor tetras will become lunch

one of my angels is 5" (disc size) and the largest is 7"
the smallest is still around 3"
my neons are all adult sized

BTW the neons were first the angels were added later then more neons were added. As I have said I think the key is plenty of hidy holes for the neons
(lots of plants) and keep all fish well fed.
