Juwel Vision 450 Ltr Setup (inc Photos)

nice tank. I have green, red and blue spotlights aswell, just not set up at the minute. May add them to the 125.

Very impressive tank mate...

The vision 450 is my dream tank. I don't have room at the moment but hopefully in the future I will. You have made a really good job of yours.

The bala sharks take me back...I had 2 in my 100 ltr tank but had to take them back becuase in time they outgrew the tank. They really are beautiful fish.

Thanks :) Yeah lovely tanks i looked at a lot before i bought it, the other option was the osaka 360 but it was less volume of water and open top, they now have one in my lfs setup and i'm glad i went with the vision 450. Next one is gonna be a custom 8ft x3ft x3ft methinks, either that or a 9ft x 3ft x 2.5ft.

Love bala sharks, actually i just went into pets at home before and they have about 12 of them in a 140 litre setup along with a load of other fish (they were extremely skinny), in contrast the wyvale garden centre down the road which has a small fish section in it which is run by a nice lady and her family it seems, has 6 in a 240 litre setup and it is clearly written on the side of the tank "These fish will grow to over 12 inches".

The Wyvale Garden Centre aquarium is where I always get my fish from. And it is also where I took my Bala sharks back to when they outgrew my tank..!!

Its a small world - I had not noticed until now that you are from Preston. I think the Wyvale aquarium is excellent. Always good quality fish and plenty of staff that know what they are talking about to give you good advice.

Whenever I go in I always spend ages peering into all the tanks. My wife has to drag me out everytime!!!

Yeah theres a few of them round preston, the one near croston is pretty good, usually have a good selection of fish, and all the guys in there know what they are on about. Unlike the owner of aquahome! who has come out with some rubbish! Like i'm not going to take a picture of the fish and go and research it before putting it in my tank! The other staff know what they are talking about, he just makes it up as he goes along, classic one was about the "cigar shark" i got. someone had brought him in cos he was too big, i had to rescue him! He gets on so well with tin foil barb who was also rescued from another lfs. Anyway... this guy tells me "its a cigar shark! Yeah they don't get there name from their shape, no its because they come from CUBA, you know cuban cigars!" Turns out they are from THAILAND / Borneo. Why bother making stuff up *sigh*.

You around Preston area also?

I've now moved both the intakes for the external filters to inside the fluval jumbo box. Moved the output of the 405 to match the position of the jumbo's output and the ex1200's output through a spray bar at the other end of the tank. Happy with the results so far, seems to be working a bit more efficiently. Thanks to Jamie who suggest this in another thread! :good:

I just turned the tank light on before and moving the filters intakes to one location has made a HUGE difference, the water is now sparkly crystal clear (as it should be i've polyfilter in the 2 externals since a few days ago) :good:

Wow, im envious beyond beliefe. How much does the tank cost to maintain (i.e. Electrical costs, water costs, food costs) and what sort of weekly maintainence do you have to perform..

Im thinking of getting the same tank, and just doing a bit of research before i get it. Also got to research on plants and fish but i might as well research the tank first, as without the tank, there wont be plants or fish :hyper:

A very nice sized tank i currently own the vision 260 looking to upgrade to a 450 or maybe a bigger one.

Just dont have much room in my bedroom at the moment

Electrical costs umm... i 108watts for the lights 48watts for the fx5, 21watts for the EX1200 so 177watts with everything on, lights are on usually about 9-11 hours a day. So whatever that equates to in electricity unit costs from your supplier. (Not a massive amount in the scheme of things)

Water i change 15-20% every two weeks roughly 90-100 litres i'd say, bearing in mind that the tank volume is expanded by the volume of the FX5 and EX1200 filters underneath.

Food, i tend to buy big boxes of the variety wafers and the cichlid pellets, frozen bloodworm again in bulk by the kg, and some frozen prawns. Everything lasts for ages and costs around £40 when i bought the lot.

The tank is brilliant, i highly recommend it, if you intend to put and larger fish in, i'd definitely recommend taking out the fluval jumbo filter that comes with it, and getting an external to replace it. (Fx5! It has the great feature of water pump out on it, u stick a hose on the outlet at the bottom turn the tap on and the tank output one off and it pumps ur water straight down the toilet/sink! This makes water changes so much easier, u can then just top it up).

If u fancy something a bit smaller, the AquaOne 850 is a great tank too, i've added an external filter to that and put the output to the input of the trickle filter that comes with the tank, the water in that is always sparkling crystal clear and its very easy to maintain the top trickle filter trays especially if u use fine floss which u need to change regularly.

Amazing tank, loved watching it all get together...

As for the missus, and her eye for backrounds.

Black sir, black.

Maybe im just partial, but that tank, in the day time lit up real nice, with the black, your fish would stand out like crazy. and it would take its class level off the charts!

Had a bit of a shuffle round and not posted any update piccies for a few months now.

The big tank is no longer in the front room... heres where it was

Heres where its not! Changed the front room quite a bit, had a new sound system put in, including in wall speakers. As you can see we now have the medium Aqua One 850 tank in the front room in the corner. Appologies for the state of the room lol! I had just unpacked that big montage 3d picture we had done, in the middle and mounted it all on the wall.
Just waiting for the U shaped sofa in white to come now, 22nd of June ETA, can lay back and watch the tank properly then :).

The big tank now lives in the dining room, will do a few full tank shots later.

p.s. glad u liked it Grower, I've added some more live plants today, the black makes everything stand out very well. I've also ordered another juwel light rig and 2 54watt day light tubes as well :D

i cant wait to see the finished project, including pictures of your entire room, you seem to be living in the lap of luxury and ide like to live that way viceriously through the pictures of your AMAZING room with tanks.

And im glad you went with black :)

Hi Kamber,

Your tank is the business. Can i trouble you for the store you purchased from and 'make, size, type' of your gravel please?

Regards IC1.
