I have a corner tank with Malawi's ... not as big as that though .. ... But i have plenty of rock and they are doing well :good:

I have a pic of it in the pinned 'African members tanks' here .... LINK ... you have to scroll down, its at the bottom.

Thnaks ... is it something your planning for the future ? or are you in the middle of doing it now ?

That tank would be great for 'em. Have fun setting up, i always enjoy designing tanks... and then watching my fish rearrange it all lol. :good:

Oh cool ... i dont blame you going second hand!! some real bargains about ... plus buying new can be really expensive  .. my next tank will most likely be second hand for sure !!

Have you decided on stock yet ??

No not yet. But I read that you have to nearly fully stock it from the start or in large groups after the cycle because of territorial issues?
Mean I prob have to to a private breeder also

Overstocking can be a good idea to minimize aggression, yea.. but if you try to keep away from overly aggressive species such as the Metriaclima Lombardoi and any of the Melanochromis genus, you shouldn't have many problems.

Also a TIP : If you can, get your fish from a number of different breeders/pet stores to avoid brothers and sisters spawing together. :good:

You don't always have to stock all at once. For best results buy all your cichlids as juveniles, stock one species at a time in order from least to most aggressive. Also try not to wait longer than 3 weeks between adding species, which should be enough time to QT any new fish from a reputable LFS/breeder. :good:

Have gone off that tank after seeing this in a show room

It was stunning and the stand was like a well made kitchen

The only problem with corner tanks is that for a given volume the maximum horizontal distance is less. In a rectangular tank of 120cmx38cmx38cm or 170l its slightly under 126cm
In a Trigon 190l its 121cm, this means that a subordinate fish has less distance to "run" and its also more difficult to break up line of sight to create seperate territories.
