Juwel Trigon 180 With Sump?

hi i have a juwel trigon 180 set up as a marine tank and i want to change to a planted again, is it a bad idea to use the sump instead of canister filters? im only having a low tech planted tank.

i have seen a 190, with a sump, set as marine and it worked really well. I would keep the sump running if it were me changing over. The more flow/turnover the better in a planted tank.
