Hi ,

I just set up my juwel 60 tank and it came with a tempature gauge thing ,does this have to be stuck outside or inside the tank?

No it may sound silly question but im new to keeping fish.

Also i did not wash the gravel when i put it in the tank and its made the white filter material go a bit brown , should i replace this?

Thanks

Oh and also i took a long pipe of what was attached to the juwel pump as it was making bubbles and i didnt like the noise , is this ok to do?

can you describe the thermometer, or post a pic? Some go inside and some stick on the outside.

Is the pipe you mention an air diffuser/venturi, as shown on this site? If so then it is okay to remove it. I bought mine as an extra because I wanted the bubbles it produces, but it is not essential.

edit...what kind of cycle are you going to do?

Well it does not look like the one in the picture , it came attached to the pump and i unscrewed it , was easy to come of ....it reached near the top of the tank and water came out of it ...but didnt like the water noise...its long and black??

The thermometer is the juwel one it came with the tank

thanks for helping

Ok thanks , will stick it on now ...are they any good?

Just put it on , but its appeared green on one bit of the gauge and purple on 2 other ones , which one do i follow?

ah, one of them thermometers. I pulled mine off yesterday! mine didn't come with my Juwel though.

Do you mean the diversion nozzles on the above site then? Can't think what else the pipe could be.

Just watch with the exterior themometers these can pick up on your central heating it may be useful if you get an interior one as it gives you the true temp. :D

I got one of those sticky thermometers with the little tank in my son's room. I didn't like it really so I got a proper one that's got a little sucker so you can stick it on the inside of the tank. You get a better reading with those. they're not expensive either.

Hi Rekord! I'm pretty new to fishkeeping too, but I can answer one of your questions, mainly because I've got a Rekord 60 tank too.

The long pipe serves only to re-assure the user that the powerhead is actually pumping water through, imo quite loud and annoying. To be honest, its pretty easy to see the water moving without it anyway.
