i have a 180 litre juwel tank. should i use an extra airstone? do others who have these tanks use extra or not? it says there is no need but some people have suggested i do.

I have done in the past. With my juwel tanks I stick an external filter on as well as the internal one supplied.

i use an airstone with my juwel rekord 96 but only cuz i like the look of the bubbles.... its states in my manual not to but i think it looks good and gives the tank extra o2

Depends really on if you have plants in it or not - if it's heavily planted, like mine, don't bother as it will drive off the CO2 your plants need. I have an additional external filter instead, as well as the juwel fitted one. If you don't have plants, then its really a case of what you prefer.

I dont have an airstone in my Rio 180ltr. Was advised not to & the Juwel handbook says dont use one. I just rely on the original filter & tank works well.

Our Juwell Rio 180 is full of Plecs, (we call it the Juwel Multiplex) so we have both an extra external cannister filter and two large capacity airstones to esure the Plecs get the high oxygen saturation and constantly moving spotlessly clean water that they prefer.

Juwel tanks are very good in themselves, but the equipment is not up to much, i would add a back up filter to the tank.
