hi all, i would like to add a sump to my tank but i have one major problem its made by juwel. the stands on these are totally useless and provide no space. so my question to you guys and gals is have any of you tried to mod ur stands to fit a sump in them if so how easy would this be. any suggestions welcome. my tank is a juwel vision 180.

thanks in advance andy

Yer juwels are pain in the bum, Best thing todo is build a support like this |_| but otherway round with some solid wood of think ply, in both places where the walls of both cuboards are then block off the front with a panel of the same wood, which you can get a timber merchant and hey presto.

Ofcourse it will be bit harder then i say but food for thought!

The easiest way to modify the Rio 180 stand is to remove the middle two panels i.e the sides to the two cupboards and replace them with 4x2 posts (front and back). You can either add a third door or a panel to cover the gap. Alternatively if you were going to have a mangrove section you could leave it open.

Regards

what's the possibility of me doing this with my tank full

as long as i used some metal unistrut as joists

yes or no?

You would be brave to try with a full tank. I would strongly advise against a full tank and suggest empty the tank, modify the cabinet and then set up your marine system.

Regards

Only other alternative (if you have space) is to build a small cupboard next to it to hold the sump.

I wouldnt try it on a full tank.
