What Juwel bulbs does everyone use?

Also, what alternatives are available that are cheaper than the 'branded' high-lite bulbs?

Im looking to get more of a clean white look, does anyone have an idea of what to replace mine with?

There are no alternatives for the T5's, the sneaky gits at Juwel made the to non-standard sizes so you have to buy their tubes, I'd recommend a combination of their marine white and day tubes.

Though Arcadia do make bulbs to similar sizes, they're just as expensive.

Ok cheers, I don't mean to answer my own question but I have seen that iQuatics do a range fitted for the Juwel tanks, but am more keen to find out what sort of kelvin ratings or colouring I need.

Also does the marine colouring make the fish's colours not stand out as much?

Have you a link to iQuatics? For a clean white look you want about 8000-10000K.

JBL have now released bulbs which fit Juwel light bars. I'm using them rather than Juwel bulbs as they are nearly £10 cheaper.

Sure. Although the freshwater bulb kelvin is 7500k

Have you a link by any chance? Really like your trigon 190, just read on your journal about the JBLs but couldn't find them

http://www.tidalgardens.com/images/articles/kelvin_scale.jpg That'd be fine, it emits wave lengths of light with peaks of blue and red, accentuating the colour of fish and plants, the pink tint may annoy you though, it did me, but I balanced it out with a 10000K white tube.

Yeah although I have a daylight 9000k and a Colour 6800k.. So I want to replace the colour one as it has a yellow tint so im not sure of the difference between the colour bulb and the iquatics 7500k

Would it be best to just get another daylight 9000k?

They were actually cheaper in my LFS

BTW, i'm using 2x 9000k and it gives a real crisp clean look over the tank.

Thanks so much, I think you've made my mind up, I will get another 9000k. The only problem is that im unsure of the Juwel 9000k. As in my tank the 9000k is at the back and when my fish swim under it they are not as colourful as under the front 'colour' 6800k bulb.

I suppose this is the trade off between fish and plants?

It's all personal preference with the K ratings as people prefer different looks. My fish look fine under 2x 9000k.
