Hi.
I have a juwel rio 240 with the bioflow m filter attached. Now im looking at the most opimal setup to make sure everything is ok and to make sure that its cleaning my water effectivly.
At the mo i have it in this order from bottom
Cirax phorax sponge filter pad nitrax sponge sponge fine pad

Im thinking it should be cirax in the bottom and all sponges in the top.

How do you sll set up your filters

The filter instructions show fine blue sponges at the bottom with cirax on top. Then the coarse blue sponge, green sponge, carbon sponge and white pad on the top.

The fine sponges are at the the bottom to 'polish' the water (remove tiny particles). The coarse sponges are above the cirax to catch any bits that get through the white pad before they get to the cirax.

I don't know how long you've had the tank or your level of experience, but are you aware that the nitrate sponge, according to most people who use it, doesn't work so should be treated as though it was a blue sponge? And that none of the sponges, with the exception of the black sponge, need changing until they fall apart.

Hi,
I have a Juwel Rio 180. I think its odd to put the coarse sponges at the bottom and fine at the top of the filter. Now I'm using filter medium in mesh bags in the bottom holder, then a white pad, in the other holder I put the fine sponges at the bottom and coarser at the top.
