Juwel Rio 180

Hello I am thinking of getting a new fish tank and I like the Juwel Rio 180 with cabinet and was wondering what you think of the complete aquarium package.

Is there any other makes around the same size (121x41x55cm) that you think would be a better complete aquarium

What fish could I fit in the tank (the wife wants bright coloured fish). So any stocking ideas would be very helpful

I have 7 juwel tanks and just love them, I have 2 180's and they are good tanks, the only thing that I dont like is the internal filters, to clean them you have to remove the whole top including the light units and when you put the sponges back in it makes an awful mess. My advice is you get a juwel tank is take the internal filter out and either use an external or a different internal.

I have the Rio 180 in beech and it really is a nice tank. If you are in the UK then check the price at Seapets online and see if your local fish shop will price match.

Yea I was looking at the Seapets website and Warehouse Aquatics to get the tank. Has anyone got any feedback on the 2 companys.

I am new to fish keeping and not sure which/how many African Cichlids will fit in the tank. Could Kribensis (Pelvicachromis pulcher)be kept in a tank like the Rio 180 and as being new to fish keeping I would prefer fish that are easy kept as my knowledge is limited

Have dealt with Warehouse Aquatics and I had a very good buying experience with them. Can't say about Seapets but am sure someone else can. Also make sure you read up about the fishless cycle so you know how to go about cycling your tank in the best way. After that is achieved then you can start adding fish to your tank. There are plenty of tropical fish that are available for starters like yourself. Platys, mollies and Corys to name a few. Haven't been down the route of African Cichlids but you can usually find the info on-line or a member here will help.

About the stocking. if your new to fish keeping Cichlids arnt the best thing to get, start with some tetras and guppies

U dont have to remove top on rio 180 u just slide over then the basket slides up,my one is top notch,nice thick glass,heavy duty stand,and u can get loads of media in the internal,highly recomend juwel rio.

I bought my Juwel Rio 180 Litre from Seapets on line.
They delivered within the week and I've had no problems with the tank
at all.
I've kept the internal filter, removing the light canopy monthly allows me
to clean the tubes, and at the same time I remove and rinse the media from the filter.
I think that the tank is very well designed, and a good size for fish keeping.
I also added the Juwel 3D rock imitation back wall to the tank that over the past 12 months
has grown algae and coloured just like natural rocks underwater.
I personally would thoroughly recommend the Rio 180 litre.

Those dimensions sound more like the Rio 240

Have a look around to see if there are better deals, but I got my local Maidenhead Aquatics to price match this offer, when I took in a printout of this online deal
