I thought i would leave the journal until the water cycled so it wont be ages until more pics are added so the pics of setting the tank up where taken last week.
Hope you like it!

The setup:
Juwel rio 180 (black)
Juwel filter & heater
Juwel lighting

Day:1

The decor:
Pets at home fine gravel (natural white)
1 large peice of bogwood
1 peice of decrawood

The larger peice is the bogwood. (soaked for 3 days changed the hot water about 6 times)(From day:1-3)

Day:2
I washed the gravel and put it in the tank taking about a hour and a half. Once washed i leveled it out as best i could and then left it ready to fill the following day.
Here is a pic i took while filling the tank with the gravel (an excuse to have a bit of a rest)

Day:3
After the gravel had been layed and it had settled overnight the water was added! I filled it with a hose pipe going into the top of the filter.

Now it was time to add the wood! I spent about 30 min doing this which was a lot less than i expected! I wanted to put plants all round the back and have wood coming out into the center of the tank from the back corners. The plan didnt last as this is what i cam up with and was realy happy with it!

The plants: Day:4
I added 5 Nymphaea stellata bulbs a day after the water was added and they had just begin to sprout when they went in.
Java moss went in about 2 days after the tank had been running and is doing better in this tank than it was in my other.
I have ordered the some more plants of java plants so the tank looks pretty bair at the mo!

Nice tank, joemuz! Been looking at one of those for myself. I look forward to watching yours progress.

What fish have you got in there?

How did you get the bogwood to sink so fast.

Beutiful pics. :good:

It looks like it's Mopani wood which is really dense and will sink like a stone.

I have
1 sailfin plec 5.5"
1 black ghost knife fish 5"
1 dwarf plec 2"
1 khuli loach
1 red honey gourami
1 kissing gourami

The wood was floating slightly when i first soaked it in a picnic cooling box but sank after 2 days realy easily. And yes the smaller peice is mopani decrawood and the larger peice is bogwood. Thanks for the comments guys! Cheers, Joemuz

Looking good, what colour background are you having?

I dont know yet, i might leave a background out ass i think you can see more without one.
If i do it ill probably be plain black so when the lights in the room are off, it will look like the fish tank is floating in a way.
Thanks for the feedback guys! I would be realy greatfull if you could tell me what you think is good and bad about it. Cheers, Joemuz
