Hi all

Well this weekend got rid of 2 Cichlid type fish that had been harrassing previous fish and at prior a Female Dwarf Gourami. So they went back to the shop and they kidly replaced them with

2 x Pearl Gourami
2 x Yellow Mollies
1 x Male Dwarf Gourami

So they are currently settling in but I have a few questions

1. The tank also contained 6 x Neon Tetra's however in all the excitement of getting the old fish out I seem to have lost 1 Tetra. Now there were 6 at the end of last week but can not place it. I also have 3 x Clown Loach but they are only just over an inch long. I can not think what could have happened and looked everywhere but a little concerned in case it has died and starting to produce lots of Ammonia.

2. The Gouramis seem to be ok but I am concerned as the pump is really poweful and any fish that swim past get thrown down to the end of the tank which is not ideal for Gourami's. Now I have the jet pointing slightly down and into the side in an attempt to reduce the strength but the Gourami's don't seem overly happy. They often come up to the end with the filter /pump as it seems calmer behind the pump. Does anyone have any suggestions for calming the pressure from the pump please ?

So anyway the following is a complete list of fish in the tank if anyone has any thoughts about the mix please let me know

1) 5 x Neon Tetra
2) 2 x Red Tailed Guppy
3) 3 x Clown Loach
4) 2 x Pearl Gourami
5) 2 x Dwarf Gourami (1 male and 1 Female)
6) 2 x Yellow Molly
7) 1 x Albino Pleco

I guess I must have reached the limit for the tank as far as stocking goes !

Thanks in advance for any comments !

Kevin

Ooops sorry they are in fact NOT Mollies but Platys !

cheers

That's 33 US gallons which is what most people on here work to.

1) 5 x Neon Tetra - Should be fine
2) 2 x Red Tailed Guppy - Male / female?
3) 3 x Clown Loach - Get too big for the tank
4) 2 x Pearl Gourami - Should be fine
5) 2 x Dwarf Gourami (1 male and 1 Female) - Should keep 2 female per male as they are aggressive
6) 2 x Yellow Molly - Should be fine
7) 1 x Albino Pleco - What type of plec?

Currently your tank is overstocked IMO, particularly if you consider the potential size of the clowns / plec. I'd rehome the clowns now, work out what species of plec it is (as many get too big for a 33G tank) and think about rehoming the dwarf gouramis / adding another female.
