Juwel Light Unit

i have a juwel rio 125 and the light unit isnt working ive changed the bulbs the fuse etc evan changed the inline switch still no look . i no they sell the replacment units on ebay at a cost of £59.99, As money is a little tight this month is there anything i can use untill i can afford the new unit or is it ok to do with out for a while.

if it's a new tank you should be complaining to jewel, otherwise the fish wont mind being without lights, although some sunlight would be handy if you have live plants. You can buy lights that clip on the back of the tank for about £20 from arcadia.

does it have a red sticker on the under side?

if so its from china and is one of the duds, take it back and get it replaced with a unit with a blue sticker.

no its a 2nd hand tank i got the tank and stand for £50 so cant really complain. i have no live plants there all plastic so as long as it wont harm the fish

essjay thanks for pointing that out to me ive managed to get the top of the light unit with a heat gun and knife and have orderd the ballast unit from ebay lets hope this works
