have one in Bo`s tank, just stripped the tank so i could finally add his gravel ( fed up of waiting for MHA to get black in stock - got him medium natural :( )
anyway while i was stood on the chair thought id have another go of washing the filter, done it before but never noticed that the media could be in the wrong baskets
bottom basket has 3 different finer sponges
top basket has 2 huge courser sponges
also went to turn the heater down a bit and no numbers :/ took a guess but if anyone has a photo of theres ( 300W with blue and green turny bit) and can tell me what direction it needs to be turned to DECREASE the heat id be very grateful

decrease heat is clockwise

The finer blue should be in the bottom basket, the course on top, so you have that right.

The juwel heaters dont have numbers, but should have a + and - sign, so turn the dial towards the - to get the temp down, its a trial and error thing with them, so do it little by little and read the thermometer for the right temp.

Hooray, you caught the little boogers, well done :good:

ah right i didnt see the + n - so ill have a look now, thankgoodness about the media :) thanks all

yes i caught him, hes cute in a slimy wormy way but hes not staying here!

My Juwel 100W heater has numbers ranging from 16-32

right taken the loach .. huge relief! cant find the - n+ so ill have to play with it, is your one of the ones that goes inside the filter unit Andy?

I have one that goes in the filter unit and has no numbers and its useless. Ive given up playing around with it as it is so erratic. I wanted the tank at 25 but could never manage it, its stuck at 26 now and I dare not touch the heater as anything could happen from just the slightest turn.

I had thought of replacing it but am not sure if you can put any heater in the filter unit. Any advice anyone?

Yes it can go inside the filter or at the other side of the tank!

Juwel heaters are garbage they dont really work well at all and i found they cant hold a temperature in a tank very unstable and not really safe with them not having any numbers i would shot it in the bin and get a interpet one with number dial down the middle they keep the tank temp very stable! :good:
