hi all,
my Juwel rekord 63 Litre tank is now 3 months old, i change the white poly filter once a week and the black carbon filter roughly every month. I am not sure about the green and blue filter sponges, would the green & bliue sponges need washed in the water from the tank now after 3 months or would it be better replacing one or both of these sponges?
many thanks.

It's best not to replace filter media at all, unless it's starting to fall apart (the white poly filter is an exception), as you'll be throwing away a lot of your good bacteria.

Manufaturers always say that; it's just to continue getting your money off you!

Personally, I'd replace the black, carbon sponge with a blue or green one. Normal tanks don't need carbon on a day to day basis.

Clean the sponges in old tank water and don't replace them.

thanks fluttermouth for the help, so its best to do away with the csrbon & replace it with either blue or green and also keep the blue & green i have in the tank washing both of them in tank water
