Hello everyone! I am glad to have found such a great wealth of information in the form of this board. I have learned a lot whilst "lurking" and have decided to join so I can post from time to time.
I have had a fish tank since I was 12, my father bought me my first one at a garage sale, and boy was that fun! I can still remember the excitement from the first trip to "Big Al's" for fish. I can remember that we got danios, tetras, glass fish, platies, khoulie loaches, ghost shrimp and two oscars!! YUP!! You read that right! We actually were gimp enough and didn't know any better and bought two oscars. Imagine our surprise when the fish starting disappearing, one oscar lost an eye and pretty soon, we only had one oscar left!!
I can look back and laugh at it now. That little even led us to buying a great book on aquariums, and another 20g tank for the oscar to live out the rest of his days! We started the community tank back up again and the rest is history.
I currently have a 35g mounted in my downstairs wall, with easy access via the laundry room.
I don't have a huge mix of fish at present time, guppies, dalmation mollies, one female betta (who I need some help with later) a gorgeous gold brushfooted pleco (omg I LOVE him
) a rainbow shark and 3 tetras. The guppies and mollies keep having babies, so I am hesitant to expand the variety in the tank until I can figure out what I want to do. (get another tank for fry, or a bigger tank and reno the basement again!! lol)
I am looking forward to learning more from this board, and getting to know everyone better.
