I have read about fish having red poop and spitting out food are results of having parasites, im a little concerned as my black oranda had a rather long red poop yesterday and is occasionally spitting out food.

Is this a load of crap or have I got something to really be concerned about ?

Thanks

I don't think you need worry. Parasites are not actually that common, and are mostly found in wild caught fish.

Long poops and spitting out food are both very common in goldies. In the absence of any other symptoms I would leave well alone. Do you ever feed the fish peas (lightly cooked, deshelled and chopped) or give them a fast day, with no food at all? Both those things helps keeps goldfish's digestive systems in good health.

Ive never heard of feeding fish peas but I will definitely give it a go, thanks! By the way I have posted a pic of my dwarf jewels :)

Red poop depends on what the fish ate, not a sign of parasites. Microwave the peas for a few seconds, deshell them and drop them into the tank.

Well I had put bloodworm in the tank earlier that day so I just thought it was that but after what I read about parasites I got a bit concerned, Thanks

The fish probably ate his friend's portion too, that's all

My Black Phantom Tetras poop out the digested corpse of the bloodworm still intact, so it may be the goldfish does the same thing, causing the long red poops.
