Well, I've had lots of wonderful advice here so far, but I realised that I haven't really introduced myself properly so here goes.... Sorry, if you've already heard my story!
I'm just 3 weeks into being a fish owner and already it's a roller coaster ride of emotion!
We bought 4 guppies (2 orange and 2 blue) but sadly after just 10 days the 2 blue ones died of velvet
Everything seems to going swimmingly (sorry) now though.
After reading everything people said on here about choosing fish and the right fish shop I've realised that the blue ones just didn't stand a chance. Oh how I wish that I'd read up on diseases before hand! The pet shop have just had a new batch of blue guppies in and they really are a sorry looking lot. There was white spot, velvet, fin rot, clamped fins - I don't think that I'll be going there again!
Anyway, after a few days of mourning my orange ones seem to have sprung back to life, but I can't wait to put some more in! My levels are - Ammonia 0.4, Nitrite barely measuring and nitrate 3 so I'm hoping it'll be any day now.
