I'm just wondering if there are any Characidae (tetras) to be found in the Far East
and conversely are there any Rasborines (rasboras etc) found in the Americas?

The presence of Cypridontiforms ends in northern central American where they are replaced by Charaforms. Charaforms are only found in southern America and Africa as far as im aware.
