I mean, I know that losing a cat or a dog would be harder than llsing a fish. And it is. But is that what this is about? Just because another animal that we can cuddle with and play with means that an animal that can't doesn't have equal rights? I mean, so we can't touch them (most of the time), and maybe they're scared of us. But they are still living things, and they still deserve to live just like every other living thing on this planet.
I am always horried and really upset when I go into a pet store, and I see all these mammals, arachnids, insects, reptiles, amphibians, even plants, treated better than the fish.
I I understand that many employees at pet stores have little to no idea how to take care of fish. It really is a different world in the water. And that is why, as some have said, it's important for people who work around fish to know about them.
I guess for me it's difficult to understand why someone would allow such things to happen to fish. Like the first person in this thread mentioned...an entire tank of goldfish, dead.
I know I'm going off on a tangent, but it does feel good to write all of this out, repeating a bunch of stuff other people have said already. I just feel I have to defend my little friends, and also the ones out there who can't hhelp themselves at all. I mean, they really can't.
I think that's what makes me the saddest of all.
