Hello!!! This Is A Recap Of What I Said In Just Stated #1
"

My Name Is Ross And I Am 15 Years Old And Recently Bought A 180 Litre Tank, Here Is How It Has Been Going

I Bought A Under Gravel Filter And Bought Some Gravel, I Cleaned The Gravel As Much As I Can And Put It In The Tank (On Top Of The Under Gravel Filter) At the moment my tank is only half Filled Up With Water (I Also Bought A Machine That Makes The Special Water For Me ) ) I Plan To Fill It To The Top Later Tonight.

At the moment my tank is quite Cloudy (From The Gravel) And i hope it shall soon settle, and when i set the under-gravel filter up it goes cleaner )

I Plan To Get Around 15 Fish in There In About a month

But My Dad Told Me I Have to Put A couple of mollies In There To Get The Circulation Started For A While )

If anyone would like to give me advise on my tank

or what plants and what fish are really nice to have in a tank please tell me )

Thanks!!!! "

This Is What Ive Done From Then To Now )

Well I Filled My Tank To The Top And Waited For The Gravel To Settle, And Then Last Weekend I Went To The Fish Shop And Bought My Self All The Pumps And Fish Food,

Then about 6 Days Ago I Went To The Fish Shop Got A Couple Of Plants And Bought 2 Molies, So It Can Cycle

It Has Been Cycling For 1 Week Now And I Hope To Put More Fish In There In About 2 Weeks, This Is What My Tank Looks Like At The Moment!

Oh And By The Way My Tank Is A Juwel 180 Litre

It Was My Birth Day Yesterday And Ive Saved Some Money From It To Spend On My Tank (About £60) I know it wont get my far but its a start eh? :p

Thanks For Reading!!! :p

ur doing a fish in cycle so are u doing daily water changes 2 combat ammonia & nitrite levels?

Undergravel filtration in a Juwel vision 180? Surely that wont work properly due to the bow front? Why didn't you use the built in Juwel Compact h filter?

With the £60 you got for your birthday I would invest in a Tetratec Ex700 or Ex1200 external filter, you will be glad you did it in the long run!

The most important thing in starting a fish tank is cycle. If u cycle ur tank well and a good stock it will be fine.

The Ex700 is £58.99 and the Ex1200 is £63.99, both including delivery from 1st4aquatics.

You could probably pick up the 700 for around £30 or less second hand.

Alternatively if you dont want to mess around with an external filter you could buy a used Juwel compact h and fit it in your tank, or a Fluval 4plus (the juwel will cost less than £10, plus around £5 for the aquarium sealant, the fluval will cost around £30)

Is there a reason for you getting the mollies?

I'm a little miffed at you asking advice (which is really good) in your previous topic and being advised by all the experienced members on here that a fish in cycle is not the best option.

Also someone gave you advise on undergravel filters and externals in the previous topic also -_-

Just seem a little confused as most people who end up doing a fish in cycle do so because they have been given poor advise, you were on the other hand given very good advice on here.

Anyhow, I hope all the fish survive and the cycle goes well. Tank looks really good :good:

Nice tank, great size. I have two juwel 96 litres and use internal filters in them. One is the juwel filter as supplied and the other is a fluval 3+. They are both very simple to use.

Buy a water test kit with your birthday money, or at least testers for ammonia and nitrite. Dont get the dip stick ones, get the dropper bottle type, they are more accurate. That way you can see if the water shows up ammonia or nitrite. If it does, then do a 25% water change.( or more if its a large amount of ammonia).

Lots of people on here do fishless cycling, but there are an equal number that dont. If you fish in cycle, you can help things along by using some filter media from an established tank, or something called bactinettes (axel will tell you about these). Both of these get your filter going and fill it with helpful bacteria.
