I was just thinking about how well an inground backyard swimming pool would serve as a fish tank. I must first say that I am NOT going to do this.

A swimming pool has a filter(some have heaters too)and is basicly a natural environtment. How do you guys think it would be as a fish tank aside from people jumping in and getting eating by your pirahnas.

Do you think it would go well?

i think it would make a good pond unless it had a cover so you dont get bird turd in your water unless you had it indoors. + i think some of teh stuff you put into swimming pool filters and stuff isnt good for fishes also + you would pay absolutely loads to maintain it

I've seen a koi tank that was easily as big as a awimming pool. It had huge filtration!!!!

I have a small plastic kiddie pool stashed in the rafters of my attic for use as an emergency overstock tank. Luckily, I haven't had to use it yet, but it has a great surface area to depth ratio. A modified pool filter would probably work great for a huge tank, or system of linked tanks. My only worry with the pool or filtration/heating of a large pool would be any sort of residue in the water that is harmless for humans who are only coming in contact with it once in a while, but would be harmful to fish living in it.


I can picture an Olympic size fish tank.

The closest I ever have seen to that off internet is a local swimming pool

Every saturday around 5 in the morning, they draing their water, put in fresh water, and release fish for fisherment to catch. (Stuff like catfish and bass I hear). fishing poles only I think.... but unsure.

By 10 o clock or so it's back in use as a swimming pool.

nah id like to be able to see the side maybe a huge tank sumthing like size of a bus i reckon tht wud take 4 months to cycle tho but can u imagin tht it would be so kl lol u cud swim with them if u were clean hahahaha
