I just ordered a new livebearer for myself. I have had all the basics:guppies, mollies, swords and platies but wanted to try something a little more difficult. So, I ordered a Malayan half-beak. Well actually six of them so hopefully I will get some females and at least one male. Now I hope that I can breed some new livebearers for a little bit of a challenge!

I'm going to be nosey, and ask where you found them? I am very interested in some of the less common Livebearers, but I can never really seem to find some that can be shipped here, or are around here.

But anyway, Congrats on the new fish! You'll have to post some pictures, once you get them! I'll be dying to see them. :p

Also, if you are considering breeding, I am going to throw out a link I found very useful. It's nmonk's website, but I hope he doesn't mind me posting it. -_-

I found them on www.thatfishplace.com

They are shipping them overnight and were really cheap ($3.99 each) but I had to have them shipped overnight which was kind of expensive.

I can't find them on there. I must be blind...

Though WOW, that is a really good price. I might have to set-up another tank sooner then I thought... :shifty:

Hmmm. They obviously have the wrong common name on it, as Dermogenys pusilla is definitely the Malayan Halfbeak. Either that, or they have the wrong scientific name. -_-

Either way, both are great fish.

They have it labelled as the Celebes Half Beak but the scientific name is Dermogenys pusilla. I hope its actually the Malayan half beak that arrives. I will have to tell you about it when they arrive, hopefully the order will go through tomorrow and arrive on Thursday since I doubt they sent them out tonight.

Actually, their shipping rate is pretty reasonable compared to a lot of the other places. It's a flat rate no matter how many fish you buy from them up to $174.99 (of fish), if you spend over that they ship them free. They also don't tack on additional bag fees, box fees, etc. $24.99 for overnight shipping is pretty good. I'd been wanting to place an order for some corys and was waiting until they had something else I wanted so I could take advantage of their rate. They finally had something else I wanted and I ordered Monday morning. My 4 new Corydoras Schwartzi ($1.99 each) and 6 Albino Tancho Koi Swordtails ($7.99 each) arrived today in great shape. They will send you a confirmation email with the tracking number once they have shipped your fish. They've got some great prices on fish!

Wish they had fish ordering places over here in Australia, I haven't been able to find any online delivery places over here.
