i have just noticed loads of angelfish eggs on the heater, what do i do? i would love to grow some up.....

please help :good:

Remove them and place them in a 5/10 gallon tank. add some meth blue, and hike the temp up to 82-84F. 2 days after they hatch start a bbs hathcery. This is how I always do it.

Would be nice but not every one can do that.

To be honest the parents will need to lurn a little if it's their first spawning.
You may get them hatch but not much further on the first spawning unless the ideal parents.

So let them get on with it and perhaps think about turning that tank in to a breeding a tank and move the other fish to a new tank.

And provide them with more slates and plants to perhaps spawn on not the heater ;)

first time it happened to me they protected the eggs for about and hour then ate them:(

the problem is that they have spawned in my community tank and as its on the heater its a bit of a problem....... i do have a qt tank but its in use at the minute. i think ill let them go this time as it is the first time they have spawned but maybe add a piece of slate in the future and set up another tank (wife permitting) to let them grow in. i am also running 2 externals and was not prepared for this so im sure any survivors will get sucked up!
once my qt tank is empty (i would add some fish in it to keep it cycled) i could use that to use as a baby angel tank :good:
is there any fish i could put in there and keep in there that wouldnt eat the eggs/fry? corys perhaps.....?

got about 20 white eggs now  all day the parents have been juggling 3 eggs that must have came unstuck, they have been spending all day trying to fix them back with the others but they keep floating away. they then catch them and start all over again, i feel really sorry for them as they seem to be nice parents.....
still loads left that have not gone white yet so fingers crossed.
when will they hatch?
its been 48 hrs now.....

Thats very good going for first timers, some people will remove white eggs as sometime fungus sets in and can spread to good eggs killing them too.

Congrats! You should see wigglers within 12-24 hours depending on temperature. I will expect to see pics when they hatch. :D

just got home from work and all the eggs are gone.......... they musy have eaten them.......!
oh well theres always next time.....

If they lay eggs on the heater again, make sure to unplug the heater. It will cook the eggs. Angels like to lay on vertical or almost vertical objects. A piece of slate rock put up against the glass ina vertical postion should work. They should use that. Like mentioned above, they need to learn how to take care of the eggs. Sometime it takes acouple of trys for them to get it right. MY suggestion if you wat to raise fry, is to put them in their own tank.

i have just been having a sort out and can put them in a 90L tank soon thats about 17 inches high and 2 foot wide would this be an ok size tank? its my qt tank at the minute but the current fish will be out this weekend.....

My angels laid a load of eggs last night on a amazon sword leaf, they were fighting with 1 of my discus like hell, very protective, this morning some had gone white and some been eaten, 15 mins later the angels swan away and about 4 discus ate them all.
