i have a mollie thats always giving birth!! so i bought a new tank for the next lot, then i noticed that one of my black mollies was looking a bit ragged!! someones been going for her (we had her ages with no probs) shes halved in size as well so i decided to put her in the new tank i bought, then this morning what happened? 9 fry swimming about the comm tank!! cant take them out and put them in the other tank as the ragged ones in there!!! have put them in a breeding trap in comm tank, what i want to know is how long should it be before i can put them in the tank with the ragged mollie? ah well it never rains....

why cant you place them in the tank with the ragged one, are you medicating it?

Just keeping the ragged fish in a separate tank will give her a rest, but is there anything else wrong with her? Are you treating her for anything?

not treating the ragged one at all, shes fine feeding & lively as ever, just normal but has been got at, i didn't think it would be a good idea to put the fry in` in case they get eaten

Well, the general rule for fry is if they are small enough to fit into another fish's mouth, they will be eaten. So it doesn't matter which tank you let them go into, as the rule still applies.

i aint letting them go in any tank, gonna have to keep them in the trap now as i moved my attacked mollie in to a tank on her own, the one i was gonna keep for fry!
