DogFish
Fish Fanatic
I started fishkeeping in February of this year with a betta, and by the end of March had 2 bettas and a 10 gallon planted. Until this week I was proud that I had not lost a single fish.
This past Saturday I decided to take out quite a few plants from the 10 gallon, the plants were so thick I rarely saw my fish! I was very careful, and removed several of the largest from one side, and then replanted all the baby java ferns into the open space.
However, the very next day I noticed one cory had a small spot of cotton on one side. I started treatment right away but yesterday couldn't find him, and today found him dead in the back of the tank.
I read about fungus on the internet, and saw that stress (such as massive tank changes) can cause illness, and also all that digging could bring up bacteria as well.
I am sad that I did this to the poor little guy.
The other cory sat with the sick one, but now that he is gone, the remaining cory is back to being very busy. I have my quarantine tank cycling, and when it is ready I will go get a couple more so he can have friends again.
They are such wonderful little fishes.
