is there any other way to upload a picture without going thru you-tube? thanks

Welcome, and yes.
Click on the circled thingamajig, and it'll bring up an option where you can select an image.

Click on the dotted line box, and find the image you want to upload.

Alternatively, you can copy an image on another tab and hit Ctrl + V to paste it here. Then you can resize it when it appears in your text box.

For videos, click on this tab and paste in a copied link from any of the approved sites shown beneath the URL bar!

To upload your own video to the site, you'll have to upload it to YouTube first. Then follow the previous steps and it'll show up here.

Hope this helps!

In the reply area, click on “attach files” then choose a pic from your phone or computer pics and then post it.

This might be better on the Tropical Fish Emergencies category. If you make a thread on it, more people are likely to respond. Alternatively, you could make a thread under one of the two cichlid categories.
Sorry if this wasn't much help!

A new thread about this fish has been started in Emergencies, replies about the fish should be posted there
