Ken here from N Ireland.
A M8 gave me a tank so I am starting again after 20+ years.
I have the tank up and running, but still not sure what to stock it with yet

I am a keen scuba diver and take the odd UW photo, so it might be safer looking at fish threw some glass ;)

:hi: to the forum, Ken.

What size is your tank? Anything in it at the moment? (sorry, we're very nosy about other people's tanks here! You'd think we'd have enough with our own tanks, but no; we like other people's :p ).

Hello there and welcome.

Where have you scuba-dived? I tried it once but my ears didn't like it so I had to stick to snorkelling. Love to see some of your UW pics :)

Did you cycle your tank yet? What size is it and what types of fish do you like? Are you having plants? Sorry for the questions but a) I'm nosey LOL, and b) It helps to advise you as to your stocking.

The tank is a jewel 1000 X 400 x 300, I took the internal filter out as it was a bit knackered and put a fluval 406 in.
I have some white sand stuff and 2 lumps of white rock, I have a lump of bogwood, which is in a bucket of water ATM.
The lad that owns my not so local aquarium shop is a dive buddy of mine, says to let it run for a week or 2 before I put anything in it.
He says you can get freshwater rays which sounds intresting to me, but he didn't have any in stock.

I liked the look of some crabs he had, and a funky looking frog and a rope fish.

I wanted to do a native marine setup, but a cooler looks a bit expensive ATM.

As for diving.
The wife and I have being about a bit.

Turks and caicos
Red Sea ( a good few times)
Bonaire
Galapagos
Tenerife
Plus we do a lot of diving of the North coast of Ireland, mainly deepish wrecks off Malin Head.

I will go dig out a few pics, tell me when you get fed up :shout:

PS, I was born in Portadown.........

WOW! Fabulous pictures, thank you for posting them and keep 'em coming :good:

I've snorkelled in the Red Sea and off the coasts of Maui and Kuai. Unfortunately the pictures we have are the old fashioned sort that you got developed, maybe I can get some digital shots of the clearer ones, they are nothing like as brilliant and interesting as yours though.

Welcome to the forum Ken.

I love diving, only done it twice and plan on doing it everytime I go on holiday. I've dived in Mexico and Rhodes. Your photos are absolutely stunning. Amazing shots there. 10x better than our shots!!

The secret of taking good photos is to only show the good ones

I will finish of with a cpl of fish that I don't think anyone on here will have a tank big enough to keep them in
