a jd grow.. mine are already 2 inches to 2 half .. i wonder how fast they would grow in few mths time.. and about how long will they leave others alone it looks like the female is already picking on my loaches so im gonna have to wait til summer time to get the 55 gal to put a pair of jd in

Mine was about 6.5 inches at a year and now at around 8 inches at 1.5 years.

Word of caution: If your going to keep a pair of jds in a 55g, you need to be sure they are a mated pair. You cannot house two adults in this size tank as one will end up severly injured or dead. Even if you form a mated pair, always be ready for the worst. One day, the fish may all of a sudden begin to fight and they will need to be seperated. It can happen, so have a back up plan, either a friend, lfs or extra tank (atleast 45G for a full grown adult JD)

ok thanks for the reply... i wanted to know if i have any to worry about them.. and of course i got them from wal mart (i know shame on me)but they were actually really healthy bunches .. for some reasone i thought htey would stay like 4-5 inches but shocked me to find out they were the nasty and glad i didnt listen to the girl that i should get the redzebra cichilis thought maybe i should have gotten those instead of jd ... .. so i do have a back up for now but my sister dont even know if she wants them i offered a pair of them .. she has a 65-70 gal tank for them so not so bad it will house with a common pleco...she is getting a 100 gal in future soon not sure exactly when but i know she getting a longer one as she knows tht the plec dont need heated tank and she be able to house it .... with lots of space low walls b ut long tank so it got lots of room ... she cant wait ... for now i have 4 jd and that was my reason to ask about how fast they grow i have 4 clown loaches i dont want them to bother them so im keepign an eye on them and getting a 55 this summer coming so i have time whew thnak goodness

the clowns will outgrow the jd's eventually and be much much more active... my JD sits under a log most of the the daylight hours. good luck in the future :good:
