As it is a parasitic problem, it could in theory have been transported from the plants and onto the fish. I would recommend putting new plants in what I believe is called 'interpet - pond disinfectant' which kills parasites, viruses and bacteria (you put the solution along with the plants in a bucket of water so it is not pond specific unless you plan on disinfecting a pond, which it is capable of doing).

From what I know, the stain will probably fade over time has such a solution has made contact with my patio before and it has disappeared over time. It will remain indefinitely on something like the internal tank sealant.

edit: if the rock is plastic then it will likely stay stained.

Thanks tank sealant is black so wont show there, the rocks are made from rock lol.. there not plastic some ive scrubed but others i dont really want to remove, i will see how it fades

cheers

Be sure to do a nice juicy sized water change(30-60%) now. I also echo what Mark4785 says.

A good tip whenever introducing plants(even from your LFS), is to give them a dip in 5% bleach bath for a minute.......and then instantly rinse. So that would be 1 part bleach to 19 parts water. I do it with 2 decent sized containers. One with the bleach solution, and the other with clean water. Dip your new plant in the bleach solution, for not more than 60 seconds and then swish around in the clean water. This will help rid it of parasites and algae. Only thing is don't do this to thin flat leafed plants like swords. However, is very good for light leafy plants.

Hope that is useful
