Hey,
I just got new lights - my tank is 7ft - the lights are 72inch compact flourescent - 2- 6700K for the plants and 2- 10,000k to showcase the fish and it has 6 moon-glow-led lights
i have giant cabomba, water wysteria, cabomba, java fern and some big leafy plant ( i don't know what it's called) and some grasses
i'll be getting some flourabase substrate but because my tank is so big i need to buy that slowly as it's gonna cost a small fortune.
I now have 4wpg of lighting, the guy at the lfs said there's no limit to what plants i can have now.
But ... i need some input ...
What are you favorite plants?!
i really don't know anything about plants and i'm really new to planted tanks period.
I know i'll need co2 fairly soon but that's something i'll have to save up for again as these lights REALLY set me back!
so here's a couple pics and if you could suggest new plants and placements that would be really helpful. :*)

sorry it's not a very close shot - i can't fit the whole tank in one picture.

First off, i really like your aquarium and stand. I like how its so long.

For co2, you will definately need co2 with 4wpg. Whether it be DIY, Hagen, or pressurrized.

Ive always liked the look of riccia in a tank, although i dont have any cause of the light it requires.

wow 4wpg over that hmmm!! :sly:

if you would not be able to dose c02 and ferts, i would suggest that for the time being you decrease your lighting a little (dont use all of it yet) might cause an algae outbreak. but from the looks of it doesnt look like you have a lot of plants inside the tank yet. :) for the meantime i would suggest maybe 2-3 wpg ? 8 hours a day ? 4on (2off) 4 on just to be sure..

somebody correct me if im wrong ;)

How deep is the tank and how many gallons does it hold and also what kind of filtration are you running, im just trying to figure out how you could use co2 effectively in such a long tank, although i know Rain another member here on TFF has a very long low tank like yours, and is a very sucessful plant grower, so it can be done, just not sure how :D

it's 96G - 17inches high
and i'm running a fluval 404
as you can see...i just got those lights and had low lights before and my giant cabomba is starting to take over the whole left corner.
since i got the lights i've been running the daytime lights 4 hours on, 4 off, all off but the moonlights at night, i am starting to see some algae on the glass.
How about plants..what should i get.
I've been trying to get riccia, finally the store said they'll save me some when they get it in, but every week it's the same....Next week we'll get some in.
What other plants do you guys like?

Nymphea stellata ??? aka Tiger lily? Sorry useless with names. This is a gorgeous plant and would go well in a huge tank like yours.

I also like Vallis, Swords, for fast growing plant to begin with you could try hygrophilia.
