Just Got New Convicts And I Have A ?

i just got 2 pink convict cichlids one male and one female and i was wondering how long it takes to get them to start breeding?

Depends on how big they are.
And just wondering, how big is the tank?

the male is about 2.5 inchs and the female is about 1.5 inchs

they are in a 25 gallon tall all to them selves

It shouldn't take very long for them to start.
They may wait a little because the female is only one inch but im not sure.
They will either breed or fight.

i dont think they are going to fight because they are sitting in the same flower pot cave togetherand swimming next together so i guess i will have babies soon and hey can i sell the babies to my lfs and are pet stores interested in pink convicts because the regular looking ones they said no

Depends on what they are fed to get into condition, though being convicts I wouldn't be surprised if they bred in a week.

3 months is a long time, they could breed a lot earlier than that. There are many reports of peoples convicts spawning at 1" to 1.5".

what kind of food should i feed my cons to get them in the condition to bred

my convicts eat simple flakes with soem brine shrimp, daphnia or live river shrimp.

i got them at about 1 inch and it took mine 3 months to breed. the male is abour 3.5 inches and female about 2.5.

I had 1 inch female and a 6-8 inch male and they breed in 2 day's after introduction. Also, mine eat any kind of flake/pellet that hit's the water.

it all depends on the fish and conditions. It could be days, weeks, or months.

sorry to high jack the thread but if u had a blue jd an oscar and a pair of cns in a 5ft would the cons kill the other two fish if they bred? thanks.Ben.

I had my m/f cons for quite awhile and still no breeding. I added 6 neon tetras as dither fish and boom! came the babies.
