I just got my green terror from my LFS. He is one of the most beutiful specimens i could find. He has more pesonallity than any fish i have ever seen (for $30.00 he better be). He is approx 3" He is loving his 55g tank. He is already guarding his bog wood viciously  . Im kinda worried becouse i guss the wood i bought and soaked isnt all the way water logged. My water kinda tinted yellow with *tannins from the wood (I dont know if i spelled tannins right :good: ). How do i get rid of this besides water changes? Is their a filter that will remove tannins from my water? Is this un-healthy for my fish? Thanks for the help mates! happy new years! "CHEERS, DRINKS ALL AROUND!"

good news mate... it's great when you find the fish you're looking for eh?

the tannins won't do any harm, if the wood is small enough you can boil it in a pan of water for a few hours to really leech out the yellow, or you can add actvitated carbon to your filter

ya... no worries about the tannins. They won't hurt anything except the appearance of your tank.

Side note.... you payed $30.00. For a 3" fish, you got hosed. I would say no more than 10 bucks for a 3" GT. Its a pretty common fish and would only be that much at almost full grown.

Anyways, GT's are a very good fish if your looking for persoanlity! All cichlids are filled with it, which can sometimes cause you trouble if your not careful :p . Enjoy, and if you keep up with the water changes he/she should live a happy long life in the tank you have them in :good:

the $30.00 was do to the fact that I didnt want any of the ones that they had couse they were all chewed on  So I speciall ordered 4 and picked the heardiest one. So it was accually $30.00 for 4 special ordered 3" Green Terrors from a well known Sac breeder. :good:
