So i got some no brand name canister thats supposed to be designed after the Eheim 2028. Asked around and people said it looked pretty heavy duty and well built but anyways...

There are some things i dont get on the filter. One of them is this little plactic piece with a ball in it. Where does that thing go?
The next thing is the spray bar( i think thats what its called but if not im talking about the plactic tube with holes where the cleaned water comes out of.) is really strong and causing a lot of water agitation. Is there anyway i can slow down the flow or should i take off the plastice hole piece thing and just leave the hose open ended. I really dont think my fish like it and it is bad for the plants i have in there so someone please let me know.

Any other advice on canister filters please please turn it in.

thank you

The ball thing goes in the top of the canuster filter where the pipe clip on, it sits in the out let as a visiable sign of the amount of water flowing through the filter.

If u have a drill you can add extra holes to the spray bay thus slowing the amount theorgh each hole.

The spray bar add extra oxygen to the water which dose help alot, the extra oxygen help the filter to work better and help the fish as well.

You can remove the bar if u like, but it will not add much oxygen.

yea ill drill some holes to slow it down. I know the it adds oxygen but i dont want to add too much and kill my plants, thats my concern. Thank you very much i didnt even think about that, any other suggestions and advice u all have would be great, thank you.

You could always change the direction of the holes on the spraybar, I mean either point the them towards the back glass or angle them down into the water further if it is agitating the water surface to much.

My spray bar sits about an inch below the water surface and is angled so that it barely moves the water surface. It is also about 3.5' feet long and I find it works really well like this in my planted tank.

You can't add to much oxygen, nateraly water will be at 100% sateration. (mg/l depends on the temp)
If add extra oxygen it helps the system for fish and filteration. Any excess O2 then will then be given off throuth the surface of the water.

It's only plants that give off a lot off a lot of O2 thet can make water get super saturated.

so it will not be a problem.
