Hi this is my very first post.
I would like to ask to any1 who could help: my goldfish seem to be bored and just float around at the bottom what can i do to make them more active???? :/ :/ :/ :/ :/

That isn't normal goldfish behavior; they are usually very active! Might I ask what their living conditions are?

to help you
we need more info
what size tank(3 dimensions would be great)?
is the tank filtered?
how do you clean the filter?
what are your water parameters (ammonia, nitrItes, nitrAtes, pH etc)?
what and how many tank mates are in the tank?
how often do you do partial water changes?
how much water do you change?
do you use a gravel vacuum when doing the water change?

what size tank(3 dimensions would be great)?
hexagon, 1m up, 50cm width, 50 cm depth

is the tank filtered?
yes by water pupm into a 3 sectioned filter: 1 bio balls, 2 sponge, 3 those carbon ball things.

how do you clean the filter?
I clean it with some tank water 1 a week

what are your water parameters (ammonia, nitrItes, nitrAtes, pH etc)?
I am only 13 I have no idea what you mean

what and how many tank mates are in the tank?
well 4 goldfish (acting weird) and 2 pingi pingus(also acting weird)

how often do you do partial water changes?
every weak

how much water do you change? 30%

do you use a gravel vacuum when doing the water change?
yes I have an electronic one

does any of this help

Hex tanks are no good for goldfish, you are overstocked and that's why they are acting weird, as the filter won't be coping with the load, causing bad water quality, they are big waste producing fish, 20gals for the first fish, then 10gal for every other fish added, i would do an immediate water change plus get them rehomed.

oh......
well the guy at HOLLYBUSH (aquarium specialists) said this is the ideal tank for them
thnx for the help i have the right mind to phone them and tell them

Aquarium sales clerks often do this, just to sell their product. I love watching their faces when I correct what they tell the customer. They are always so flabbergasted but it's worth it to give those fish better homes, often the customers are just uneducated but seem willing to learn.

these topics may help you understand water a bit better
Whats in your water
kH,gH & pH

It is a good pratice to have a test kit at home
so you can test your water whenever the need arises
failing that most LFs' will test your ater for you, some don't even charge.

I foned themup last night and he said( it was john the person that served me)

"oh right who are the people that told you it is wrong,
(me) friends
well its not my fault that this happened, do you want a refund

yes i do thank you"

and that was it I have ordered some water testers of the intrenet and they should be here on mon

:fish:

Hex tanks can be for goldfish but you have to understock as the surface area is not good.. but then you have to think about swimming room.. but its not a great tradgedy that you have that tank.

i dont know how many times ive posted about fish shop reps giving bad advice :-(

hex tanks while they do look nice are no place for fish there narrow giving the fish no swimming room,i wish people would research keeping fish before buying tanks it would save them money and the fish having to go through all the stress of cramped conditions

imagine you have a house room 4000 square feet seems big doesnt it ?

now imagine that same room is 2ft x2ft and 1000ft tall ,doesnt seem so big anymore unless you can climb the walls :hyper:

length and width is what you need not height see what i mean
