Just Found A Snail!

So i've just been looking in my livebearer tank and I can see a snail of the side of the glass about 1-2cm big.
The most amazing part is - all the fish in that tank have come from my main tank which has never had any snail problems!

I think it must have come in on the new live plant i've got (but I put that in both tanks about 3 weeks ago so surely the other tank would also have snails and surely they would have shown up earlier?)

Any idea what snail it could be? I can tell it's defo a snail and like I say it's about this big (see below)

I don't want to get rid of it if it's not doing any harm...

Any ideas?

snails do 'hitch rides' on new plants... describe it...

it would of been on the plants but probably still really small so u didnt see.


i would remove it as it will probably lay eggs and thats where the trouble starts.

I'm not bothered if it lays eggs... I have the time and patience to remove them if they get to be a problem!

It's very hard to describe - It's probably only 1cm from top to bottom (but big enough that my fry cannot eat it! Although thier trying their best!), it's quite fast moving for a snail and it looks like a snail! - There's not really much else to say!

Probably won't be long before my CAE finds it!

EDIT - just measured it and it comes out at 0.4CM (I never was good at estimating!)

UPDATE! - Can't even find it anymore! I guess my Chinease Algae Eater ate him

Is the shell 'cone' shaped' like a Malaysian Trumpet Snail..... or 'flat and round'... like a Ramshorn?...

Well it was cone-shaped.

That must be what I had on a rock formation I bought from the LFS. It was smothered in them and they had very hard shells (almost unbreakable). Just seen that people are selling them and I disposed of around 100 from 1mm - 15mm Oh well.

Thats a nice try but it will never work as people will be running many different screen resolutions on diff size monitors!

but i did giggle to myself a little that the effort you put in for that!
