I have a 33 us gallon tank with the following

3 Male Guppies
7 Harlequins
3 Otos
3 Panda Cories

I will be adding a single Ram.
So want do you think - to much, just right or not enough?

Has the tank cycled.

Oh yes, a couple of months back. I have a Ehiem external filter thats working well.
Ammonia & nitrite is at 0, the nitrate is at 2-4. And all residents are very well.

Quite abit of room left yet, not familar with rams so can't comment on them, sorry.

Sorry I don't know too much about Rams either. Is there a reason why you can't keep a pair of rams?

I was talking on the "New World Cichlids" and if I keep just 1 he will be happier than in a pair because they are territorial.

oh right. Thats a shame. I was thinking of getting 2 blue rams a couple of weeks ago and I was watching them and they do seem very aggressive. I was told by the LFS that 2 would be fine for my tank, but they may be aggressive toward my guppies. I decided against it at the time, knowing that LFS often get it wrong.

Houndour love the bunnies.

You can keep a pair in a tank, but from what I understand they can get territorial and a little aggressive when breeding. Which means the other fish might get chased a bit. I might be wrong!?!

awww thanks Wilder! They are my babies

Well that makes sense.

So how much room do you have for more fish? Going on the fish inch rule, I would say you're nearly there, but Wilder thinks theres room for more? How much more?

I would be inclined to add a couple more otos and cories. I just think bigger groups just make them look better. I don't know if that's pushing it though.

Correct. 1 ram won't really show much color or any of the behavior you could get with a compatible pair. They do get a bit aggressive when spawning and raising fry, but shouldn't get too violent.

Is the tank planted?

It's well planted with plastic plants, I have not had much luck with real ones. I did hear that it is some times hard to get a compatible pair, do you know if this is right?

you could basically add a shoal of tetras in there
prette much any of the smaller kinds.

you have less fish then me and my tank is only 20 gallons...

CHEERS. I MIGHT GET A PAIR OF RAMS AND SEE WANT IT LOOKS LIKE. I DO NOT WANT IT LOOKING CROWD, IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.
