Hi guys,

I just brought an aqua 1 filter, does anyone else have one?

Few questions:

1. Does anyone have anything to keep the pipe and bits together or is it fine by itself, it really makes me crap myself lol

2. Every now and then you can hear like an air suction going through the filter any idea on how to stop this?

3. I have both my internal and now external filter running together, going to do this for the first few weeks,is this the best way??

1) there should be some locking nuts to secure the hose to the nozels on the outlets of the filter, if your talking of the harder plastic tubing for the spray bar and the iintake tube that goes in the tank then they dont have them and all is ok !!!!

2) the suction is trapped air, i used to get this every now and then, check that all the sels are correct, and that the inside of the filters nozel is in the correct possition you may find whn you ake the moror unit off the top the 1st tray is stuck to the motor unit, this isnt a problem !!, if you still get air bubbles comming through the spray bar and the filter is grumbling still give the filter a gentle shake, it will grumble like mad for a few seconds but should settle down.

3) running both the internal and external together for a min of 4 weeks is good !! it allows the external to catchup with good bacteria while still giving full filtration through the established internal. or if your able to place the internal filter media into the trays along with the new filter media in your exteranal, ths way you have 1 filter only running, with the established media mixed with the unestablished will help the newer media pick up bactera a little quicker as will be in direct contact together & another benefit of putting together is if heven forbid you have a fault witht he external and it stops working you have no filtration but to save the day it will only be a case of taking out the older origional internal media out of the external , putting it back in the internal filter and plugging that in so you still have established filtration while fixing / replacing the external and dont have to start cycling again or go through a big shock in a mini cycle.
