Hi, everyone!

I bought some 'Red Root' on eBay in an auction. Just wondering if anyone is familiar with this type of wood.

The auction was called 'Aquarium Red Root Not Bogwood'

Here's the images.

I'm guessing that I'll have to boil them, before they go in the tank.

I did have a quick look around online to find out info on them, beforehand.

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this stuff in the past...

Thanks

You never need to boil wood; that just makes it break down faster.

Scrubbing in hot water is all you really need do, although 'floaty' bits can be helped sink faster by covering in hot water and leaving to soak.

Maybe a little, but not enough to be worth the faster degrading of the wood which will, in time, lead to even more tannin being released.
