I just added a CO2 system to my tank, and am wondering what tests i need to do to make sure i dont under/over do it.

Thanks

Testing KH and pH will give you a CO2 level using a table - there's many on the net.

Over 35 mg/l CO2 is regarded as "bad" for fish. If your water is very soft then you will need to monitor pH closely as it may drop below acceptable levels.

My pH is high to start off with... or so i though. My tap water is 7.5, but I just tested the tank water, and its down to 6.2ish. What can I do to counter that drop?

what co2 kit did you get mate?
did you buy it or is it diy?
If its diy please can you tell me every thing you used, how are you getting the co2 to mix with water?

thanks chris

I have two of those units in my 34G. I used up the supplies sachets and switched to a DIY recipe - yeast and bi-carbonate of soda. Much cheaper and more CO2 output too.

Great, i will pick one of them up to day then, just in time as ive orderd 100 plants from green line.
