the little boys 65ltr tank has been running for over 2 months, there have been cardianls 7 in there for the last 7 weeks. i put in a bristlnose about 2 weeks after, then a week after when the levels were 0 for 4 days i added 6 forktail rainbows.

this has been the set up for the last 3 weeks or so and the ammonia was up to about .25 for a few days after the new additions. well i tested today and the ammonia is 0 but the nitrite is up to 0.5

they have been fed about a flake each for the last few weeks and the tank has been running for over 2 months.

i have no idea why this is up and have just aboug had enough of this tank

Things like this make most people want to quit! Don't do it though ;)

Just keep up the water changes it's about the only thing you can do? If it's the tank in your sig it looks v.nice! :good:

dont quit!

how often and how much water do you change? do you decholirante the new water?

what filter have you got?

I'm sure it's just settling in or something

its a small 65ltr aquaone tank, has the original aquaone internal filter which came with it.

i changed the water yesterday and declorinated it.

have been doing 15 ltrs once a week

i did add some stuff tha turns the ammonia into ammonium yesterday with the water change

mmm strange!! don't give up though!! are you sure they are not being overfed accidentally?? you are doing all the right things!! just keep up the water changes and i reckon it will settle down soon.

your maintaenance sounds right, but yeah i agree try doing a few more water cahnges to see if that finally stops it.

i saw on another thread that their small son was secretly feeding their fish and killed them off...no toddlers around is there?

more importantly what test kit are you using? could be that the tank is fine and test kit is not great or out of date?
hope this helps,
adam

Don't quit! Just keep doing water changes and hopefully your bio-filter will get the chance to catch up.

i have been doing daily 40% water changes for the last week and i have fished out a dead rainbow 2 days ago and today a dead cardinal. luckliy i hav caugh them quickly so they dont up the ammonia.

the nitrite is still up at .25 and will not get any better no matter how many water changes i do. this tank has been running over 2 months
