Okay as everyone know if you have MTS they breed like mad. I wondered if there was some way of getting them out of their shells so I can feed them to my smaller fish. Maybe boiling.
Is this a good idea or just cruel?
Fish often relish a snail treat! I have regular tank snails and when they get to be too much of a problem, I grab about 15-20 of the smallish ones and feed them to my bettas, who absolutely love them! Most of the time, if they're small, I'll crush the shell between my fingers and then extract the meat with tweezers, but some of my bettas can manage by themselves. A few, however, are kind of dumb and need the extra help. I know it's gross to some pro-life people, but it's a good method for snail control and it's good for the bettas, who are natural carnivors anyway.
