Hello,
Sorry I've been offline for too long haven't got much going on recently in my tank apart from negative events.

Do you remember Great Admiral Nerite, my biggest and oldest nerite snail? It died in November (I don't actually remember if I announced it here) :rip:. At least I still have the shell in a plant pot in my garden (if a bird hasn't stolen it yet).

I also had a Cardinal Tetra die. It was ripped apart and the head missing. Worse, the previous night, I head a high pitched cream seemingly coming from the tank (my imagination?) There was no obvious reason for the fish to die :rip:.

Apart from that, nothing has really happened apart from my plants dying and the remaining cardinal tetras always hiding away in the plants.

At least I still have some cardinal tetras, rosy barbs, leopard danios and 2 striped nerite snails 🥲

So sorry for your losses

Sorry somethings haven’t gone well. More than likely, the tetra was already dead when damaged by other fish. It‘s not uncommon for them to partially or entirely eat a dead fish. I’ve had terrible luck with live plants and switched over to silk ones. They provide ample hiding spaces. My favorite is the ficus vine by Exo Terra, available on Amazon.

I've had nerites live a lot longer than 1 year.

I bought a black and yellow Clithon species in December 2013 which died in September 2020.

I bought 3 grey speckled nerites in December 2014 and the last one died in January 2021 (the other two didn't live nearly that long) I don't know which species this one was though, the shape was similar to 'military helmet' snails but the colour isn't like any I've seen on-line.
