I have just discovered these tiny whitish insects? jumping on the water surface. They are quite tiny and all you can see is the ripple created when they jump. What are they and are they harmful?

Dubby,

Hi, I had a similar problem a couple of years ago in my aquatic albino frog tank. It was just after I bought some plants and they must have come in on those. Have you bought any new items for the tank recently?

Didnt see them for long enough to work out what they were (They were there about 30 minutes), The frogs seemed to enjoy them though!

I get these too, i dont have a clue what they are but they seem harmless enough and fish seem to enjoy eating them.

It sounds like you could have water-fleas. They are completely harmless and are actually a food source for some fish. They may have come from newly boughten plants.
