Jumbo Snails

I have a jumbo snail in my tank. It's quite large actually, a few inches radius.

...but algae is growing on his shell. So much that after coming back from a trip, it's actually long, hairy algae in some parts!

Is this normal, and how do you get it off without hurting the snail? or can you?

Thats crazy, I imagine it takes away from the beauty of the snail

i donno but my otos suck on my snails shells sometimes

I have a massive apple snail, whose shell is completely green and fuzzy from algea. He is the happiest snail in the world and I dont think it causes him any problems
