Hi,

I've just be hit with another bout of JOMTS :/

I bought two 3 gallon tanks, one is for the rearing of fry, but the other, well erm... I dont know lol.

any ideas what I can keep in a 3gallon tank? the shop I bought them from had written on the price suitable for two goldfish, lol... not a chance I wouldn't put 1 goldfish in there.
I could put a betta in there along with some ADFs but I already have those in their own tanks.

So any other ideas, cold water or tropical will be fine :D

I heard about someone trying to set up a crabitat - could be an interesting change to fish?

Don't know how to do it mind, but sounded interesting and I reckon it would look really cool!

yeah thats an idea, I'm sure it would be pretty simple as well. some sand, some hiding places, I'd just have to make sure the lid was tight, as i know someone who kept crabs and they always used to escape.

Any other ideas?

maybe make a small heavy planted tank and put a betta in it

Well as long as you give them some dry land ie rocks out of the water and no tall plants that reach the top, they shouldn't try to escape. I read that the reason most of them try to escape is because they have no dry land to sit on. I saw a great little tank in an LFS that had crabs in it. Filled only 2/3 with water and with logs and rocks for them to sit on out of the water and it looked wicked!

*nearly all of the crabs were on the dry land and none were trying to escape, only a couple were completely sub-merged*

Yeah this could be an idea that I may go with

pico reef :D

a what now?

Hi Studz

If you go with the crabitat, post some piccys as it also got me thinking! :good:

ah hadnt heard the JO part before.

ah, might just my poetic license on the JO part :p

Well here is a pic of the setup, the other tank is exactly the same, but has NOTHING in it yet, not even water, I'll be setting that up later in the week, as that will be my tank for rasing my cory fry, before they more onto the bigger tank and then into the tanks at the NOT-SO-LFS, lol, ooh....

I told the GF about crabs and she said the Dr gave her cream for hers... erm... I mean she didn't like the idea :D she hates my poly' Senegalus, she's wierd like that.

Would Amoured shrimp be ok with ADFs? and how would I feed them, as I know my not-so-lfs stocks those ALL the time
Also been thinking about those small cichlids, erm snail sheel cichlids?? not sure though.

*Edit: Added some tripe about the gf and other ideas, sorry for the gutter humour, I have relapses at times
