Well I'm knackered now, got to bed at 5am and kids woke me up at 8am

I thoroughly enjoyed the fight found it a hard one to call certainly not as open as judges thought and I thought there was no way Las Vegas would judge it Joes way... but they did and I'm glad.

He probably shaded it for attacking nature but Hopkins is class in a defensive way , so canny and sharp punching when he needed to but Joe looked sharp, fit and lively throughout as well!!!

Just glad that both our best boxers didn't lose to the yanks and lose perfect records in short space of time

Yeah I stopped up to and i'm shattered now!
Your right the fight was a bit scrappy, but Joe did have the higher work rate.
Great to see him still unbeaten!!

welcome to the forum RB1 :good:

some people have said scrappy but I really enjoyed it cos it was evident that they were two class acts with very contrasting styles.

Hopkins a master of figting defensively but you could tell he was dangerous and Clazaghe's more attacking style being suffocated by Hopkins and watching him try to change to get too him

A cracker in my opinion

Watched it at the weekend, god I'm glad I didn't stay up to watch it live.

Although Hopkins is obviously a class act he spent the entire fight backing off and grabbing Joes arm and having to be broke apart rather than using his superior height and reach and actually boxing. Shame really cos he showed in round one what he can do when he buttoned Clazaghe and landed him on his ass.

The most knackered person would have been the ref having to part them every 10 seconds.

The judging was way off :/
Calzaghe style is amateurish to say the lest trowing a zillion punches with no power and hoping he lands more and win on points

And lets not forget hopkins is 13 years past his prime not really a feather in the cap

I'd say your views upon Calzaghe's style are in the minority. a fantastic fighter a proper fighter as opposed to a slugger and Hopkins is old but didn't fight as if he was past his best. He's still a strong,f it and very cleve boxer and he didn't have a prime 13 years ago

Quite alot of people share my veiw of JC. After the 4th round Hopkins clearly looked tired. But yet controlled the fight and never looked in danger. the fight could have easily gone Hopkins's way and i was much more impressed with hopkins ability to dominate the pace and position of the fight.

I don't get what ur trying to say about peak a 30 year old hopkins would have been a lot fitter than a 43 year old one and his age was a big factor. Even JC him self said before the fight that age would be overriding factor.

If JC puts in a performance like that against a fit and ready Jones this man has skill comming out of his ears he will lose.

what I meant is that when he was 30 Hopkins had already lost a couple of times and drawn a fight. He was a late developer in terms of boxing so I think unfair to say he would have whopped Calzaghe at that age. He seemed to hit his peak between 37 and 40 as thats when he had his career defining fights

Roy Jones Jnr yes a great fighter in his day but he's a spent force now, he's lost three of his last 6 fights and the last three he has won have gone distance as well

He was looking good in his last fight vs Trinidad a JC type offensive trows a ton of punches. As for the losses 2 where vs Tarver which 1 was a come back.

The glen johnson bout.. well i never seen a boxer want to knock his opponent out more than glen did and wow jones took soom huge hay-makers.

Even if he is a bit past it JC would have to put in a very good preformance to win. Would be a better fight than Hopkins due to the styles of each boxer

on that point I will agree lol
