I wanna get a jewel pair and breed them but im not sure wat size of a tank they need? And if you have any other jewel pics/info Post em :kana:

I would recommend setting up a 20 gallon long to breed them in, with hiding areas for the females, (males can get abusive) They would have to be the only fish in the tank, a breeding pair of jewels is death to all other fish in their territory :)

I was thinkin about buy a 33g for my community tank and using ym 20g commy tank for jewels
Jewels are not a good community fish. They can stand up to larger fish, but how are you planning to keep large fish in 20g?

I think what was meant by that quote is that all the community fish that currently live in the 20 gallon will be moved to the 30 and then the 20 will be left empty just for a pair of jewels?

a pair of jewels will do just fine in a 20 gal  just make sure you buy them small and have loads of hiding places(as mentioned above).

a good idea is to have 3 female and 1 male in the 33 gal, why dont you do that? :dunno:

Yah thats wat i ment. I just went to a chinesse restraunt near me and they had a tank that had to be 7 feet long 3ft hoigh and 2 ft deep with like 4 12"+ Balas, 5 HUUGEE tin foil barbs, and a big shoal or silver dollars and a blacky cat fish! it was an awesome setup
