I am on a budget and have seen this tank for 80(something) with a black stand new, what is your opinion on it and can someone fill me in on the filter sponges

What do you want to know?

If you on a budget i suggest looking at classifieds or the buy and sell area here for something slightly bigger as these tanks really limit your stocking.

i want to know if in your opinion if its a quality tank- i know its small but it around the size i want and have room for

also about the filtersponges do you need to follow manufacturers guidelines, i have heard you can use pond floss for the white filter replacements

Juwel are one of the top brands in the fish tank industry (alongside rena and fluval)
The Rekord ranges is great for smaller fish like tetras, livebearers, etc.

Yeh teh filter pads do not have to be changed as often as they say...you just clean them in tank water...i dont see the poinht in changing filter pads anyway..the more mature the better aslong as they are not carroding.

I would say they are over priced pieces of junk (the rekord series) to a fishkeeping newbie they sound great because they come complete but it works out alot cheaper/more effiecent to buy your own seperate filter.heater etc.

The heaters are a tad small and the filters are overkill.

If you can afford a 60 litre you can aford a 70 litre as it is the same length just the 60 is shorter afaik.

Bare in mind the stocking limitations in a 60 litre (which has a probable stocking capacity of 53 when full) you are looking at 10" of fish thats ten neons and nothing else or ten guppys.
